3 Tips for a Great Day

When I originally thought about this topic I had a long list going of all the ”tips” I was going to share in order for you to have a great day. Then, when running the idea of the subject by a friend I was asked ”well, what is a ’great day’? how do you decide what makes a day great or not?” Well, good stinking question – back to the drawing board. More often than not we associate a ”good day” with a feeling rather than what we actually accomplish. Who am I to tell you “do these things in order to have a great day”?

So, new title…

3 Tips to Help Set the Vibe for a Great Day

1. Wake up early

I know guys okay, don’t even roll your eyes at me. Hear me out…Ever wake up late and feel rushed the entire day? It’s like you wake up and feel behind schedule before the schedule even begins. Morning time is my absolute favorite (you can read more about my morning routine here) but the overall intent behind getting up early is it allows us to take time for ourselves. Everyday we are pulled in a million different directions giving pieces of ourselves to those around us – when we take the time to prepare and be intentional about the day it can help you get in the right frame of mind for all that is in front of you.

2. Gratitude List

This has been a fairly new habit of mine but it has quickly become one of my favorites. I have a notebook that I carry with me just about everywhere and every day I list 3 things that I am grateful for. Some days it includes people and different events in my life and sometimes it is just the cup of coffee in my hand. I have found that starting the day with some good in the forefront of my mind allows me to have a more positive outlook and it forces me to seek out the ”good” during my day.

3. Get outside

This time of year is my favorite. Being in a training block, I get the fortunate opportunity to see the sun come up almost every morning and I gotta tell you guys, it’s a cool feeling. Something about being outside as the city and everyone else is waking up is surreal. I challenge you to spend a few minutes outside in the morning whether it be sitting outside drinking your coffee or taking a walk around the block. Breathe the fresh air and remember how fortunate you are to be where you are.

How you set the tone for the day can completely determine your mindset for all that you face. Wake up early, get outside, remember all that you have to be thankful for and make the most out of everyday that you are given.
